We bailed on Whole30.
Last weekend was kind of the death knell for our diet. It’s a shame, since… uh… actually, no, I’m glad it’s over. My wife had much better results from Whole30 than I did. People talk about feeling super great once they’re detoxed off sugar and carbs, but I felt awful the entire time. Problems sleeping, constant nightmares, feeling sluggish during the day, and constantly hungry. The day I quit Whole30, I instantly felt better and two days after resuming a regular diet, I was sleeping through the night again.
Now I just need to quit eating the leftover Halloween candy we had stashed away.
Anyway, here’s what we made this week:
- Whole30 Turkey Meatballs. Still good, and we’ll probably keep them in the rotation.
- Street Style Steak Tacos. I’ll post a recipe for this eventually, but it’s mojo-marinated flank steak, onion, tomato, and avocado with a dash of lime juice in a flour tortilla. If I’d been smart, I would’ve picked up some crumbled queso fresco, but alas, I am not. We also ran out of propane and had to finish cooking the steak with the broiler. Double fail. The steak
- Chickpea Curry with Rice – Oh, this was good. Very very good.
- Tofu with Spicy Peanut Sauce – This was… bland? I don’t know, I expected more from this recipe. I think I need to make some tweaks. Maybe I just had too much rice.
